How Do We Worship?

Our worship is guided and ordered by the Holy Scriptures. Our conscious intent is not to entertain, but rather to bring honor and glory to our Lord and our God by lifting up the name of Jesus Christ. The preaching of the Word of God is central in this. We believe that it is primarily through the preaching of God’s Word (1 Corinthians 1:21) that unbelievers are drawn to Christ and believers are strengthened and built up in their faith. The Bible teaches that the following are proper elements of worship services:

  • Reading of Holy Scripture
  • Singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs
  • The offering of prayer
  • The preaching of the Word
  • The giving of offerings
  • Confessing the faith
  • Observing the sacraments
  • On special occasions, taking oaths

In addition to our regular weekly services, we also celebrate several special occasions throughout the year, including Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunrise, Thanksgiving Eve, and Christmas Eve. In our worship we attempt to blend the best of traditional and contemporary Christian music. We believe that the whole person needs to be involved in worship, loving God with our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Our public worship is not an end in itself. Through public worship on Sunday, the Lord’s day, Christians are encouraged to serve God all the days of the week in every activity.

“Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31).
